Funding for the Fill Your Tank Program & ROAD Forward Initiative Reaffirms Long-Standing Commitment to Fostering Healthy, Thriving Communities

Today, Enterprise Mobility announced it will expand efforts to address food insecurity and advance social equity by committing more than $200 million through its Fill Your Tank program and ROAD Forward initiative. The grant funding will continue to strengthen communities where Enterprise Mobility operates in North America and Europe by supporting local nonprofit organizations and key partners.

“From our first days in business, we have been deeply committed to fostering healthy, thriving communities in the places where Enterprise Mobility team members live and work,” said Chrissy Taylor, president & chief executive officer at Enterprise Mobility. “This investment builds on that legacy, helping us continue to tackle hunger as well as support education, health and wellness, and career prep for youth and young adults.”

By 2030, the Fill Your Tank program and ROAD Forward initiative will have provided a collective investment of over $375 million in grants from Enterprise Mobility’s operating groups and the Enterprise Mobility Foundation.

Fill Your Tank

Launched in 2016, the Fill Your Tank program was created to address food insecurity and work toward a future without hunger. By 2030, more than $210 million will be granted to key partners, as well as local food banks and food programs in communities throughout Enterprise Mobility’s 70+ operating groups. Since the program’s inception, more than 670 local organizations have received grants through Fill Your Tank, helping alleviate hunger in hundreds of communities.

Key partners include:

ROAD Forward

Launched in 2020, the ROAD Forward initiative supports organizations that address social equity gaps in communities where Enterprise Mobility operates. By 2030, nearly $165 million will have been granted to local nonprofits and key partners through ROAD Forward to support early childhood development, youth health and wellness, and career and college preparation. Since its inception, more than 1,000 local organizations have received grants through the ROAD Forward initiative, driving a tangible, positive impact in hundreds of communities.

Key partners include:

Local nonprofits for both Fill Your Tank and ROAD Forward are selected by Enterprise Mobility’s operating groups. This empowers team members to take the lead in identifying the organizations best equipped to address hunger and social equity gaps in their neighborhoods.

“Through Enterprise Mobility’s latest investment, we’re standing behind our core value to strengthen communities across North America and Europe,” said Carolyn Kindle, president of the Enterprise Mobility Foundation. “Seeing the transformative impact of these programs has been inspiring, and we’re thrilled to build on the momentum.”

To date, Enterprise Mobility has donated over a half billion dollars to charitable organizations worldwide through its operating groups and the Enterprise Mobility Foundation. By leveraging our presence in thousands of communities, Enterprise Mobility is responding to natural disasters and helping address challenges, such as hunger and social inequity, through partnerships, local grants, volunteerism and employee giving.

By Sam, Former Club Kid & 2021 Youth of the Year

March 21, 2025

Eight years ago, I came out for the first time in a room full of strangers—and they clapped.

It was the first day of BGC Canada’s Get Loud National Youth Forum. I was standing in a room with other Club kids, including 3 of my Club friends. We were reflecting on the activity we had just completed related to understanding the various obstacles someone encounters daily simply because of their identity.

Having related to the activity on a personal level as I was exploring my own identity, I spontaneously decided to share my truth at the time. To this day, I have no idea what compelled me to share, but what matters is that a group of strangers I’d never met made me feel safe enough to do it.

2S & LGBTQIA+ young people need the safe spaces that BGC Clubs provide

Young people in 2S & LGBTQIA+ communities have always needed safe spaces to explore and express their identity, but they need BGC Clubs now more than ever.

“As young people affected by these harmful ideologies, we are concerned, frustrated, and exhausted. No individual should ever have to debate or justify their existence.”

– BGC Canada’s 2023 National Youth Council

BGC Canada’s mission is to provide safe, supportive places for children and youth to experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, and develop skills for life—no matter their background.

The rise in anti-LGBT hate at government levels in the U.S. has been on the rise for the better part of two years. Fear, hatred, and misinformation continue to run rampant among our neighbours, and Canada is not immune. Hate crimes targeting 2S & LGBTQIA+ communities are on the rise in Canada. Now, advocates across the country are worried about increased anti-trans hate making its way across the border.

As a queer and trans person myself, I can tell you that the Canadian youth in these communities are scared, anxious, uncertain, and they need support.

BGC Clubs play a lifelong role in the lives of young people

Clubs across the country are creating positive spaces, relationships, and conversations that encourage all children and youth to be themselves. BGC Cornwall/SDG played an instrumental role in my upbringing, and I can confidently say if it weren’t for the mentors I met (who I still talk to regularly), I wouldn’t be the same person.

Growing up with a single mom, we leaned on the Club for accessible and meaningful after-school programming. In high school, I still leaned on them for academic support, exploring hobbies, having supper every weekday, and having friends to share those experiences with. The skills I learned to accomplish what I did are skills I still apply in my daily life. Every time I go back to my hometown, I always make sure to visit.

BGC has been the most consistent aspect of my life since I was nine. My Club gave me the certainty that no matter what, I had support—something all young people deserve to experience when they need it the most.

BGC Clubs rise above challenges to meet the needs of their communities https://www.bgccan.com/en/bgc-clubs-rise-above-challenges/ Mon, 03 Feb 2025 14:07:23 +0000 https://www.bgccan.com/?p=85020

By Owen Charters, President & CEO, BGC Canada

February 3, 2025

Over six hundred BGC Club locations across Canada serve nearly 150,000 children and youth. Each Club is being asked to do more to support young people, but they don’t always have the resources they need.

BGC Clubs support communities in key issue areas

During my time with BGC, I’ve had the opportunity to visit almost every one of our 85 BGC Clubs, and two truths stand out: Our Clubs are very dynamic, and they face challenges every day. Yet, repeatedly, Clubs rise above challenges to provide great service in their communities.

While the services provided at each Club look a little different, they all support key issue areas: before- and after-school care, youth employment, youth mental health, food insecurity, and learning, to name a few.

Those 85 BGC Clubs provide six hundred Club locations nationwide and serve 150,000 children and youth. With rising living costs, each Club is being asked to do more to support young people in their communities.

For example, we know that Canadians are facing food insecurity more than ever. From 2018 to 2022, food costs rose by 19.1%. Recent reports show that as of 2023, 1 in 4 Canadian children under 18 live in food-insecure households—that’s 2.8 million young people. Times like these are when BGC Clubs come in.

At BGC Canada, food support means more than just providing snacks

On top of providing nearly 7 million healthy meals and snacks every year, our food programs teach young people food literacy—where food comes from, how to prepare it, and how to make healthy choices. Without food literacy, food security is impossible.

When I visit a Club, food is the hub for everything: it’s the snack the kids gravitate to immediately when coming through the doors. It’s the smell of a hot dinner wafting through the halls for kids and families. And it’s making sure kids have the food they need for their family when they leave each night.

RELATED: BGC Clubs provide kids with basic needs so they can have brighter futures

Our Kid Food Nation and Kid Chef Nation programs were recently re-designed to help young people develop their food knowledge and cooking skills. This means that not only do they get healthy meals from their Club, but they also get skills that set them up for lifelong success.

Programs like these are why 81% of our kids know how to make healthier food choices. But with increasing food costs, BGC Clubs are struggling.

BGC Clubs have continued to prove their resiliency by supporting families with their food needs, but we can’t do it alone. For BGC Clubs to continue offering impactful programs and feed kids, we need your help. Together, we can provide opportunities to the children, teens, parents, and communities that turn to us for support.
