Kelseys celebrates its partnership with BGC Canada and looks forward to supporting children and youth in local Kelseys communities.

VAUGHAN, ON, April 9, 2024 /CNW/ – Kelseys Original Roadhouse has announced a partnership with BGC Canada to support the development of children and youth in local communities through in-restaurant initiatives and franchisee partnerships.

Guests visiting the Roadhouse can make a $5 donation to BGC Canada through the Kelseys Kids Card program and receive 3 FREE Kelseys Kids meals in return*. In addition to the Kids Card Program, guests can treat their children to a ‘Baby Shark Lemonade’ drink where 25 cents of the proceeds go to BGC Canada on every purchase.

“Supporting our local communities drives us at Kelseys, with our Roadhouse reaching 65 different communities across Ontario and 2 in Eastern Canada. We are proud to partner with an organization like BGC that makes such a positive impact by empowering young people, many of them being our guests and hopefully some future team members” says Shannon Lawler, COO of Kelseys.

BGC Canada is Canada’s largest dedicated child and youth-serving organization. Through life-changing programs, community-based services, and positive relationships, they help kids and teens develop the skills they need to succeed. With before- and after-school care and childcare services, BGC Canada addresses the growing complexity of challenges facing children and youth today.

Children and youth deserve a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where they can develop the skills and confidence they’ll need to flourish,” said Owen Charters, President & CEO of BGC Canada. “We are grateful for the support of the Kelseys team and their guests who are contributing to the work that we do. Together, we’re making a positive impact on the lives of countless young people in communities across Canada.

Non-Fungible Donations: Children’s Art to Be Listed on NFT Marketplace for Auction https://www.bgccan.com/en/non-fungible-donations/ Mon, 18 Oct 2021 14:30:35 +0000 https://www.bgccan.com/?p=74223

Creative agency Sid Lee and BGC Canada collaborate on unique NFT donation drive

Toronto, October 18, 2021 – BGC Canada (formerly Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada) partnered with creative agency Sid Lee to release Non-Fungible Donations – an auction that converts children’s artwork into non-fungible tokens (or NFTs) to raise funds that will benefit kids and teens at BGC Clubs across the country. All BGC kids’ artwork will be auctioned off, and the proceeds will be used to run local community programs and launch new initiatives for younger generations. The idea transforms the splashy concept of NFTs into a charitable and altruistic effort.

According to Canada Without Poverty (CWP), 1 in 5 children in Canada live in poverty (with Indigenous children at 1 in 2). With programs and services tailored to the needs of local communities, BGC Clubs create opportunities that help young people overcome barriers that stand in their way, including tackling poverty through youth employment, education and training, shelter and housing, nutrition and food security, and more.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has been very difficult for young people and their families and our Clubs have seen a huge increase in demand for our services,” said Owen Charters, President & CEO of BGC Canada. “Combining the creativity of our Club youth with a cutting edge donation campaign that will reach new audiences is the type of thinking we need to help us recover from the pandemic and strive to meet more community needs. As we always say, opportunity changes everything.”

By using one of the most popular cryptocurrencies on the market, the creative team at Sid Lee initiated a fundraiser that merges their knowledge of the digital realm and BGC Canada’s resources. In Q1 of 2021 alone, NFT sales accounted for nearly two billion dollars. With that information, the idea to use NFTs as a means of collecting donations was born. “For kids, the sky is the limit and with this campaign we really wanted to capture that,” said Matt Fraracci, Creative Director at Sid Lee. “It was important that we highlighted the talent of the kids who are directly impacted and allow their visions to come to life in a brand-new way. By repurposing NFTs and taking advantage of the attention that they receive, we are able to direct that awareness to a cause that counts.”

The art will be digitally scanned and added to the Opensea marketplace which allows the donations to be collected through the NFTs. The auction will begin on October 18th, and the lowest bid will start at 0.1ETH ($400CAD). To place a bid on the site or find out more about this innovation, please visit opensea.io/bgc.

Portion from of every Creature Creation sold September through October, to help support tomorrow’s leaders.

TORONTO, Aug. 31, 2020 /CNW/ – For the second time in three years, Baskin-Robbins Canada harnesses the heroism of Canadian school children to inspire its September fundraising and marketing efforts. With millions of children and youth expected to return to elementary and high schools or home studies, the ice cream brand launches, September 1, a two-month campaign to encourage customers to embrace  their new school routines with Creature Creations, its newly-launched line of ice cream treats. Thirty-one cents from the purchase of any Creature Creations item at Baskin-Robbins, September 1 through to October 31, will go to support the work of Boys and Girls Clubs in communities across Canada.

“Children are going through a lot these days,” says Natalie Joseph, representative for Baskin-Robbins Canada. “We are truly honoured to be there for them and their families and are ready to cheer them up with something everyone can get behind. Baskin-Robbins Creature Creations are the perfect way for families to enjoy an ice cream treat that will spark the imagination and provide a sense of wonder. We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with Boys and Girls Club of Canada to extend that feeling to kids across the country.”

This past July, Baskin-Robbins launched Creature Creations, a lineup of three creature-themed whimsical characters that elevates the traditional scoop to a new level of imagination. These Instagram-ready creatures can feature either a white chocolate monster’s eyeball, unicorn horn or mermaid fin to adorn the top of any flavour combination, placed inside a distinctive cup featuring the face of a mermaid, unicorn or Halloween monster.

To date, Baskin-Robbins Canada has donated more than $50,000 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and is hoping to raise the bar on its contribution this year with a goal to raise an additional $15,000.

“For the past three years, we’ve aligned our summer or fall marketing efforts with the work of Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, and it’s been truly amazing,” says Joseph. “With the help of our fellow Canadian customers, we’re able to bring a smile to our children, through ice cream, while supporting other children throughout our communities. We’re elated to be able to do this and encourage our customers to continue to be as generous as they can as we strive to increase our funds in this more challenging year.”

Baskin-Robbins will place collection boxes in-store to encourage donations.

“From successful fundraising campaigns to generous in-kind donations, Baskin Robbins Canada continues to show its commitment to Boys and Girls Clubs and the families and communities we serve across the country,” says Owen Charters, President & CEO, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. “We are thrilled to be their charity of choice and look forward to growing this partnership—the future is bright!”

With the help of more than 16,000 volunteers, 6,800 staff and caring corporate partners, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada serves more than 200,000 kids each year in 775 communities across the country. Clubs provide programs in career development, cooking, lifestyle, leadership and learning. They provide a safe space for youth to learn and grow to become responsible, and compassionate citizens. 69 per cent of alumni of the organization say a Club saved their life.
